This painting was the start of my fascination with the Greek Renaissance love story: EROTOKRITOS

It was full of themes relating to transformation, friendship, courage, and honour. I’d heard it recited in musical performances and then found that one of the key characters was called Efrossini.

All this had me hooked!

I became intrigued with its symbolism and underlying themes. Eventually I had a proposal accepted by the Hawthorn Town Hall Gallery to explore this in a solo show for the following year.
