THE MERMAIDS QUEST is a painting based on my FISHERMAN AND MERMAIDS TALE series which tells the story of a magical love between two souls from different worlds. Their paths lead them to many adventures at sea, underwater and on the Earth. Prior to meeting the mermaid and her family are searching in all the seas and oceans of the world for a magical family heirloom that has been lost for generations. This painting is the emblem for that search.

In the story that I tell through my art I discover that she finds it in the soil of the Earth many years into her relationship with the fisherman. In short:

The mermaid has exchanged her tail for legs and feet so she can explore the Earth with her lover. In that time, she also becomes a gifted gardener. Its during one of her communes with Mother Earth that she finds the long sought after heirloom, The sea and the Earth are one and the same, reflections of each other.
