A portrait of an archetypal couple with Adam and Eve  elements. The duck of course is a strong symbol in many cultures adding to the symbolic nature of the overall image. In its most positive, a duck represents a happy marriage, spiritual freedom, a creature recognized as being connected to the spirit world able to access and communicate between different realms; in a less flattering version; naivety and gullibility.

I have painted the figures like they are one body. This came about in the act of painting and wasn’t planned. It seems to me an image of a united front. She looks straight on with a strong expression and he looks else where keeping guard. All in all they appear a confident young couple.

This painting has a simple pine box frame and a painted border making it ready to hang and be enjoyed.
