A good example of my love of colour

As an artist, after the colour the next thing I enjoy about this painting is the feeling of the loosely painted background.

This is a classic pose using elements from the interior of my home at the time. This painting reminds me of the freedom I felt painting a nude figure without the need of a model. A free style expressive painting which got the ball rolling as it was the first artwork I made for the show.

The composition is balanced but she appears larger than life as do the flowers she holds. The figure fills the space like the characters from Gulliver’s Travels or Alice in Wonderland  who grow into giants, while everything around them remains tiny in comparison.

The enormity of the ‘GIFT” perhaps expressing itself?
