The little mermaid was a delicately painted artwork using the finest brushes. Though I would classify this piece is one of my modern icons MODERNICONART WEBSITE I have painted it on a small wood panel in the spirit of the tradition ‘forites icones” that were also painted on wood albeit of religious subjects with egg tempera.

The mythological theme such as the mermaid appears occasionally in my modern icon & tropical shipwreck series. In this small, decorative and precious artwork the mermaid is depicted poised and holding a musical instrument (bouzouki)
