The feeling of seeing the macaws flying above you is magical

Time spent in Brazil a few years ago implanted a deep reverence for these majestic and awe inspiring birds. 

The guardian ‘bird-man’ came forth in a spontaneous meditative drawing . The complexity of the shapes and morphing forms of the seated, cross-legged figure  took some work. Only when I let go of the thinking mind did it ‘work itself out” 

I find that this ambiguity in the drawing is where the power of the image centers. The macaw symbolizes many things : grace, healing, union, fertility, and is often referred to as a guardian – funnily enough the term guardian for my title came to me before discovering this last description.
