This is an adaptation on Mandalas which are traditionally geometric patterns that can induce peaceful states. They are used for focusing attention and spiritual guidance.

My Face Mandalas use pattern in loosely circular and balanced manner with underlying geometry. They are related in approach to my Lion Constellation paintings that I did for my 2011 exhibition : Tales of Love and Reason (see Gallery).

In Open Eyes and Closed Eyes, I was interested in the different feelings and expressions that these opposite states reflected back to the viewer.
