The PAINTED SCULPTURE features strongly in my art and is the truest description for my 3D work.  TO BE WILD is one of 5 sculptures I created in 2021 that belongs to my Wishing Tree Story (listen & watch HERE)

It depicts a person who has visited the wishing tree and shared their deepest longing. The experience leaves them changed. They leave with a clearer picture of who they are and who they can become .

This is expressed in an image; a portrait of themselves that they either hold or wear;; a picture of their ideal self or true self.

To Be Wild  represents her wish to  be  raw, uninhibited,  feminine. The artwork she holds is her self-portrait as a leopard woman. An exotic bird sits in the branches attached to her. It is a further reminder to her of the unique gift that  being yourself and daring to stand out, can be.

Each person after their visit to the tree, take a part of it’s branches or leaves attached to them.

This is a  metaphor that their encounter will change them, and that they carry the wishing tree’s words and presence within them. They are guided to go through a deep cleansing and understanding of their true self.

Eventually the tree will call them back, once their wish is ready to be granted/manifested. They will be told a unique story, fairy tale, myth that holds the essence of their heart’s desire, in it.

In the hearing: it comes true, and in the telling: the story is released into the air like pollen, spreading far and wide in the form of stories and fables.

These will be woven into the fabric of cultures, and take their place amongst the human library of magical tales. Shared, spoken and heard around the world; entering the hearts and souls of others.
