‘Open’ is a face created in a mandala (circular) manner starting from the centre and adding detail in an outward direction.Creating it had a meditative and calming effect on me.

When viewed in relation to its companion mandala face ‘Closed’, they seem to have something important to say about personal power, presence and stillness.

I have only made two small paintings so far and two small works on paper but I initially had a vision of filling a gallery wall with lots of open and closed mandala faces.
